“[…] Saved the MCU” Debunked

“Spider-Man: No Way Home saved the MCU.”

Cue to Multiverse of Madness, Love and Thunder, Ms Marvel, She-Hulk, Wakanda Forever and Quantumania not only making less money or being rating disasters due to having their huge first weekly opening steadily decline afterwards but also being less liked than their predecessors or at best having huge debates over whether or not they’re worthy followups or in case of She-Hulk being downright terrible in general. On top of that: Most of the profit that No Way Home earned went to Sony NOT Disney.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 saved the MCU.”

Cue to Secret Invasion, Loki season 2, Echo being rating disasters and The Marvels being THE biggest critical AND financial flop in MCU history.

“Deadpool and Wolverine saved the MCU.”

Cue to next inevitable failures.

Get a hint folks. Those three movies that “saved” the MCU? They’re short lived successes NOT long-term fixes and not to mention besides GotG Vol 3 they’re overly reliant on fanservice and even Vol 3 could be seen as fanservice due to featuring the beloved titular characters for one last ride.

Don’t even get me started on the upcoming James Gunn DC Universe which looks like it’s pandering towards Reeve’s Superman fans because that worked SO WELL for Superman Returns didn’t it? Those who fail learn from mistakes are doomed to repeat it. Then again: That’s NOTHING new with Warner Bros.

The MCU or the superhero genre in general won’t regain the same love and success they received pre Endgame again… at least not in this decade. Get over it and start enjoying other movie genres instead.
